You can call me Terry - I’m sometimes known as Tea, and some people might call me Exi, but that’s a throwback to a muuuuch older online handle that I no longer use!

I’m 35 years old and identify as genderqueer and xenogender - basically nonbinary, but spicy. I’m married to my husband Lito but (as far as I know) he’s not active on tumblr right now.

To be rendered powerless does not destroy your humanity. Your resilience is your humanity. The only people who lose their humanity are those who believe they have the right to render another human being powerless. They are the weak. To yield and not break, that is incredible strength.
Okay, so… for anyone who hasn’t been been keeping up with our adventures in Dissociative Identity Disorder?
About 2 months ago, we found out that what we thought was just a horribly noisy mind full of constant compulsions, intrusive thoughts, and contradictory opinions was actually a whole bunch of inter-linked personalities desperately trying to pretend like they were the only one present.
At first, it started out with me (Terry) and another two ‘alters’ (Chaos and Taffy) but as time has gone on, we’ve uncovered more and more. Our final headcount following the elimination of 'The Red Forest’ - which, long story short, was a “pseudo-alter” amalgamation of all our unresolved trauma - is 24. Thirty-five years of damage has left us with twenty-four distinct personalities sharing this body.
Don’t get me wrong; this is not what you’d call a good thing, but I’d hesitate to call it a bad thing. It’s not like this is our fault. This is what our brain did in order to survive this long - we faced such constant and sustained abuse and neglect from a young age, it had to do this. If it hadn’t, our psyche would have broken under the strain. We’ve missed a developmental milestone in childhood; the fragments of what makes one person were supposed to fuse, and like a feral child being unable to learn language, we cannot go back.
So… sadly, this is us. Forever. There is no way to somehow stick us together that won’t involve two or more of us basically dying - destroying ourselves and becoming a completely new person - in order to do this. We will never be normal, we will never be anything except this - but we love each other. We care about each other. We’ll keep finding ways to heal and live out our lives in peace. We’ll start the grieving process for the person we thought we were, and we’ll figure things out as we go.
And with luck, there won’t be any reason for there to be more of us in the future. I’ll try and get everyone’s profiles finished so if any of our long-term followers want to know more about their parts, they can - or you can send us asks, DM us, whatever.
We’re going to try and be as open about this as we can, but hopefully now we can make it less of a focus in our everyday lives.
self-flagellation and self-bullying are all bad motivators for change BTW. it can be hard to escape from a spiral but genuinely u have to be nice to urself or nothing will change
you have to take care of yourself and not punch yourself down because you feel like you ‘deserve it’. if you feel like the world is against you, you should at least be on your own side while you work through things.
